Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Dowel Systems ("Dowel", "we") collects through dowelsystems.com, the account area and the Dowel service, how we use it and the choices you have.

Two kinds of information

Information about you. When you request access, sign in to your account or write to us, we collect what you give us: your name, work email, company and what you tell us about your operation. When you sign in, we keep a record of the sign-in.

Your company's data. Everything your team puts into a Dowel workspace (products, vendors, orders, stock, customers, invoices and the people named in them) belongs to your company. We process it only to run the service for you, on your instructions.

How we use information

• To provide, secure and support the service, including sign-in links, invoices and service notices.
• To answer access requests and questions.
• To keep the service safe, which includes basic logs of requests (address, browser, time) kept for a limited period.
• To improve the service, using aggregate information that does not identify you or your company's records.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use advertising or tracking scripts on this site or in the app.

AI features

When your team uses Dowel AI, the records needed to answer are sent to our AI model provider to produce the answer. They are not used to train AI models, by us or by the provider. An owner can switch AI features off for the workspace.

Who we share with

We share information only with the service providers that help us run Dowel, under contracts that limit their use of it:

• Google Cloud, which hosts the service in the United States.
• Anthropic, which provides the AI models behind Dowel AI.
• Our email delivery provider, which sends sign-in links and notices.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to a successor if Dowel is sold or merged, under this policy.

How long we keep it

We keep account and request information while it is needed for the purpose it was collected for. When a company leaves Dowel, we provide a full export of its data and then delete its workspace within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep records longer.

Security

Each company's data lives in its own database, encrypted in transit and at rest. Read how we protect it.

Cookies

We use one cookie, and only when you sign in to your account: it keeps you signed in. We use no advertising or analytics cookies.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. For information inside a workspace, ask your company's administrator, who controls that data. We will respond to every request.

Changes and contact
